Several months ago I saw the ole knitting kit at Target. I thought, ok, knitting has gone mainstream when it gets to Target. And we all know that W*l-mart has had the stuff for years.
But yesterday when waiting for a certain prescription to be filled (see entry about razor burn....so NOT RAZOR BURN!) I went browsing through my local Walgreens. I had a new sun-shield to purchase for my car (unless you like flaming hot steering wheels, but that ain't my thang, baby) and I traipsed down this aisle:

only to find this:
Do you see it?? Above the Scenic Motion Picture box, to the left of the Sea Aquarium Lamp, to the right of the CD-Rs, and below the car wash accessories?? I couldn't believe my eyes.
It is a Lion Brand Knit Kit.

Is it shelved with Bulk Plastics because it is acrylic? Does that mean I would find wool in Pet Needs? Would cotton be in the gardening section?
Now THAT is mainstream.
HEY, I've seen bigger/more diverse knitting displays at the Targets on the
West Side. Your find is pretty darn funny, though....
WALGREENS? i'm sorry, i'm still in shock. (o_O)
Did I miss the Razor Burn? You need a prescription for that?
Wow, I gotta run an errand, um, I need bandages, yeah, that's right.
Walgreen's you say?
