A much better bet? An alpaca festival in Birch Run, Michigan!

The Alpaca fest was an intimate affair in Birch Run, Michigan - only a few miles north of Flint. There were lots of fuzzy faces to look at, but not much in the way of fiber or yarn to purchase. I found these gems right before we decided to leave.
Commercially spun, hand grown yarn from LissaBeth Alpacas, Dowling, MI. Hand dyed by her niece, I couldn't resist these yellow and grey skeins. With 220 yards a skein, I am sure to find something great to knit with this fantastic yarn.
From Alpaca Fest we drove north to Frankenmuth, MI. I had no idea what I was in for. It was a Bavarian Disneyland. It was fun, but extremely odd! The town was packed - there was a craft fair and the weather was superb. P and I were there for several hours, most of which were waiting for our food to arrive at a local tavern. But I had a fantastic brat with sauerkraut that was almost worth the wait. While walking in town P pointed down the street and said that he saw a shop sign with 'yarn' on it. Sure enough, he found the local yarn shop for me. I didn't buy anything, but it was comforting to know I could have!
We didn't go in to the Woolen Mill, but if we ever have visitors who want to go to Frankenmuth (save us!) then I hope to go explore Michigan's oldest woolen processing mill. We escaped Frankenmuth with our sanity intact, but a little leery of Bavarian-themed towns.
wow- that grey/yellow is gorgeous. looks like you guys have had a great
time exploring! and GOLF? i can see how it could be very enjoyable- loved
my one day out last summer....
I've never been into golf myself, but I know plenty of people that do. Good
you found something to do, right?
Ah, Frankenmuth. It's a bit "Bavarian" for me too-- just don't make the
mistake I did once and try to go to Bronner's for ornaments in December
(that store is sensory overload, seizure-inducing as it is, even worse
super-crowded).
