A Little bit about Nepenthe

More than you wanted to know about me:

1.  I am 33
2.  I have one younger sister, who is an artist
3.  I majored in Medieval Studies in undergrad
4.  I went to a women's college in Massachusetts, and I LOVED it!
5.  In 1997 I went backpacking across N. Spain following the Camino de Santiago de Compostella, a medieval pilgrimage route. I read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales every evening.
6. I am a yankee. Born and raised in Connecticut. 
7.  I received my Master's degree in Islamic and Medieval Art history in 2001
8.  I have taken the following languages during my lifetime: spanish, russian, german, and french.
9.  I have mastered none of them.
10. I am currently unemployed.
11. I love the Adirondacks and go every year.
12. I love my knitting, and particularly enjoy vintage patterns.
13. I have asthma.
14. I used to be vegetarian.
15. I am not a big fan of chicken, but I like fish. Especially when they are raw. Yum!
16. My sister calls my sense of style "librarian chic".
17. I am an introvert
18. I used to be a punk rock girl, and shaved my head in high school.
19. I am a nerd. And proud.
20. I am addicted to NOVA.
21. I love halvah.
22. I wanted to be an ornithologist when I was little.
23. I can still recognize many birds by their call alone.
24. In 2001 I moved 2,000 miles to Albuquerque, NM to be near my boyfriend.
25. We got engaged on July 4th, 2004 at a national historic site.
26. The national historic site was named for a great-great grandfather.
27. I lived in NYC for 5 years.  I loved living in New York.
28. I once dropped my wallet in NYC and it was returned to me, credit cards intact, that same night.
29. In July 2006 my husband and I relocated to Cambridge, MA. 
30. In July 2007 my husband and I relocated to Lansing, MI. Blame the Massachusetts government!
31. I lived in Brooklyn, NY for one year.
32. I have read all of Kurt Vonnegut's works.
33. That was my most cynical summer on record.
34. I love my "vintage" 1989 Cannondale road bike.
35. My mountain bike is named the Bloody Bess.  She is a replacement bike for one that was stolen my second week in MI.
36. I love El Caminos.  The 1970 SS 454 is my favorite, yes please, to a racing stripe!
37. I like that my parents picked out an unusual name for me (not nepenthe).
38. I would like to live in a bungalow someday.
39. I am incredibly stubborn.
40. I love the color orange.
41. I love all kinds of needlecraft.
42. I played soccer and lacrosse during high school, and lacrosse in college.
43. I was mostly a keeper.
44. I hate it when bruises get to the stage when they itch.
45. I go to the gym 5 times a week, usually.
46. I love muskmelon candy. And Good n' Plenty. And Root Beer Barrels.
47. I have terrible vision. Truly horrible.
48. I look younger than I am.
49. When I was 27 I was asked if I was a "legal adult".
50. I have a potty mouth.
51. I used to do yoga a lot.
52. I love books. so much.
53. I have a huge stack of books in my "to be read" pile.
54. I continue to buy books and add them to the pile.
55. I have a enormous sweet tooth. Not for chocolate. Just pure, uncut, sugar.
56. I may have to retake the GREs to transfer grad schools.
57. I love research.
58. I don't drink coffee.
59. I LOVE BUBBLE TEA, especially Jasmine.
60. I miss my sister, lots.
61. I was a not so good student until I went to college.
62. I learned how to snowboard in February of 2004. Yes, it was painful.
63. I have cross country skiied since I was 9 or 10. I learned in the Girl Scouts.
64. I sunburn really easily.
65. I love cheese.
66. I am a perfectionist, but not neat.
67. I have two very bad tortoiseshell cats, and they are very bad indeed.
68. After reading Jane Austen for an entire summer, my speech became antiquated.
69. It has never fully recovered.
70. I go through bouts of acquisition and minimalization.
71. I have had knee surgery to replace a severed ligament.
72. I love to travel, but frequently get violently air-sick when flying.
73. I have been to the following European countries: England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Spain, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzogovina.
74. I did my Junior year abroad in England.
75. That is where I met my husband.
76. It took us over 7 years to date each other.
77. I was seeing someone else during that time (how gauche!)
78. We got engaged July 4, 2004 at a National Park in western Kansas (see #19)
79. I am looking forward to my 30s - they have to be better than my 20s, right?
80. I currently don't have a knitting group.
81. I don't like eyelash yarn.
82. I love AbFab.
83. I am not a really musical person.
84. I took piano lessons for 7 years, and never learned to read sheet music.
85. I could play by ear.
86. I only wanted to play Beethoven.
87. I get very enthusiastic about my projects.
88. Sometimes I lose interest in them before I finish them.
89. I once lectured at the Masonic Temple in St. Johns Newfoundland
90. I need to lose weight.
91. I used to walk to work and school when I lived in NY - at least 3 miles a day.
92. I believe in recycling.
93. I love carrot cake.
94. I hate people who make their dogs get married.
95. I used to volunteer for a cat adoption agency.
96. My two cats are from the Humane Society of New York.
97. I thrift shop like it is a religious experience.
98. I hope to vastly improve my knitting skills this year, and every year.
99. I love getting mail.
100. I am a natural brunette.
